Frequently asked questions
Who can go glamping?
We welcome guests of all ages, from babies to grandparents, at our glamping sites. For babies and very young children, we recommend visiting during warmer weather.
Travel cots are available for an additional charge; please note that guests are required to bring their own mattress and bedding. Highchairs are also available on request, free of charge.
How many people can the tents accommodate?
Our tents comfortably sleep up to six guests, with three bedrooms: one double, one twin, and one with a bunk bed. They also feature a spacious open-plan living and dining area, along with a private washroom and shower room.
While the true charm of our tents lies in the stunning natural surroundings, you’ll also have plenty of space to relax indoors if the weather isn’t on your side
Do you accept adult-only group bookings?
Yes, we accept adult-only large group bookings when the entire site is booked exclusively. Our sites are ideal for larger gatherings and can accommodate between 30 and 36 guests across 5 to 6 tents.
To discuss large group bookings, please contact our Large Groups Co-ordinator on 01638 563 478 or email enquiries@lanternandlarks.co.uk.
For adult-only and large group bookings, a £500 security deposit is required per booking. This will be refunded within 7 days of departure, provided no damage is reported.
How many tents are on each site?
Each site is slightly different, and layouts may vary. All tents sleep up to six people.

What’s included in the price?
A: The price you see is the price you pay — there are no hidden costs. It includes:
- All bed linen (pillowcases, duvet covers, and sheets)
- Bath towels, hand towels, and tea towels
- Beds made up and ready on arrival
- A firepit that doubles as a BBQ, with unlimited wood for the duration of your stay
The wood can be used on the outdoor firepit/BBQ or in the log burner, which provides both heat and a cooking option.
How many nights can we book?
We usually offer full-week stays starting on Monday or Friday, plus weekend breaks (Friday to Monday) and mid-week escapes (Monday to Friday). If you have particular dates in mind, just get in touch — we’ll may be able to make it work!
Do the tents have running water?
Each tent has a hand basin in the toilet and shower room, both with hot and cold taps. There is also a washing-up basin in the kitchen area, also equipped with hot and cold taps.
Do the tents have electricity or Wifi?
There is no electricity on site. Lighting is provided by multiple battery-powered lamps, and heating and cooking are taken care of by the log burner and a double-ring hob. Each guest also receives a hot water bottle for extra comfort. You’re welcome to bring additional torches or solar-powered lights if you like.
Wi-Fi? Not here — this is a proper camping holiday! It’s a chance to disconnect, relax, and enjoy the great outdoors.
Do the sites have mobile phone signal?
Our sites are chosen for their character and peaceful remoteness, therefore mobile signal can be limited. You may need to travel a short distance to pick up a signal.
What cooking facilities are available in the tents?
Each tent is equipped with a log-burning range. You can cook on the hob, heat food, or even roast in the oven. Cooking on the stove takes a little longer than a conventional oven, and the temperature varies depending on the wood and how quickly it burns — a bit of trial and error is part of the fun! If things don’t turn out perfectly, you can always blame the oven.
For quicker meals or an early morning cuppa while the stove is warming up, we also provide a twin gas hob.
Do you provide fireguards for the stove?
Yes, we provide fireguards to help reduce the risk of accidents. However, parental supervision near the stove is still essential to keep everyone safe.
Do we need to bring our own cooking utensils and tableware?
Lantern & Larks provides all cooking utensils, including saucepans, frying pans, spatulas, spoons, and more — so there’s no need to worry. You’ll also find plates, cups, glasses, and cutlery in your tent, giving you everything you need for your stay!
Do the tents have fridges or cool storage?
Each tent comes with two cold box chests to keep your food and drinks fresh. Frozen packs are provided free of charge at the honesty shop — just swap your used pack for a fresh one. It’s simple and hassle-free!
Are toilets provided in the tents?
Absolutely! Each tent has its own flushing loo — no midnight dashes across the campsite required. Your creature comforts are fully taken care of!
Do the tents have showers?
Each tent has its own gas-powered hot water shower in a private cubicle at the rear, with water heating up on demand. No need to sprint across the campsite — just step in and enjoy! Please supervise children at all times, as there’s no anti-scald device.
Are pets allowed on site?
Yes, dogs are very welcome on our sites! There is a £20 cleaning charge per dog. Please make sure they stay off the furniture and bedding, and keep them under control on a lead at all times — our sites are in working farmland, and we want to keep the farmers (and their livestock!) happy.
What items are available in the honesty shop?
Our honesty shops vary from farm to farm, but you’ll usually find all the essentials you might need, like matches, firelighters, loo roll, frozen packs, and extra battery-powered lamps. Beyond that, it’s a little bit of a local treasure trove! Just remember — perishable items like bread, milk, or butter aren’t usually available, so plan ahead for those.
Are campfires allowed, and can we hire a firepit or BBQ?
Open fires aren’t allowed on site for safety reasons, but don’t worry — each tent comes with its own firepit for the whole stay! It comes with unlimited logs, which you can also pop in your log burner. Perfect for cosy evenings under the stars.
Where can I get the address and contact information for my site?
Once your booking is fully paid, we’ll send you a welcome document by email approximately 10 days before your stay. It’s packed with all the details you need about your site, including the location and contact info — everything to help you get excited for your trip!
What is the earliest check-in time?
We like to greet our guests between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. so you can settle in and start enjoying your stay. Please note that a small charge may apply for late arrivals. (After 9pm)
What is the latest check-out time?
We ask that tents are vacated by 10:00 a.m., giving you a relaxed morning to pack up. The Site Manager will be on hand to see you off and make sure everything goes smoothly.
Do we need to clean the tents before leaving?
We just ask that you wash up and take your rubbish to the designated area. If you’ve booked more than one tent, please return any items that have wandered between tents to their proper place. That’s it — easy peasy, so you can leave feeling relaxed and ready for your next adventure!
Is parking available next to the tents?
We’re sorry but vehicles cannot be parked next to the tents, but don’t worry — your car can stay in the designated parking area on site. We provide wheelbarrows to help you transport your luggage to your tent, and we ask that you return them to the car park when you’re done. Think of it as a fun little “glamping stroll” — just watch out for the occasional uneven patch!
Can we play ball games on the site?
Absolutely! Ball games are more than welcome on all our sites. Most have a designated grassy area, kept short and tidy, perfect for a kickabout, catch, or any outdoor fun you like. Plenty of room to run around and enjoy the fresh air!
Can we access first aid if needed during our stay?
Each tent comes with its own first aid kit, which is regularly checked and fully stocked for your peace of mind.
How secure are the sites?
While we can’t guarantee complete security, our sites are peaceful and secluded. Most sites have a Site Manager living on-site, so there’s always someone around. We do our best to make sure you feel safe and relaxed throughout your stay.
What items should we bring for our stay?
If you’re not planning a food run straight away, it’s a good idea to pack a few snacks and drinks to keep you going.
Even in summer, the evenings can get a little nippy, so bring layers, extra blankets, warm clothes, and comfy footwear — perfect for cosying up by the fire or exploring if the weather turns wet.
What happens if I have a problem with the accommodation whilst I am on holiday?
Unfortunately, things sometimes go wrong, but these situations are always best resolved at the time. In the unlikely event that you have a problem during your stay, please reported it first to the site manager, as soon as possible. Their details can be found in your arrival guide or in the property information folder. This will give them the opportunity to resolve the issue promptly.
