Blue tits at Kittisford

Blue tits at Kittisford

When you're out in the countryside, chances are you'll see all kinds of wildlife. There's a great range of things to do in Kittisford and creatures to spot and one recent addition to the area is a rather beautiful blue tit!

Now's the time to catch a glimpse of these pretty little birds; they generally begin laying their eggs between mid-April and early May, so you might see the male flitting in and out of the nest site bringing food to the female. At Kittisford Barton our resident blue tit has been very busy and is finally settled on what we think might be a clutch of nine eggs. There's a fantastic live feed coming through to the honesty shop on the TV screen that has been set up in there. While on site you'll have a brilliant insight into what goes on inside that nest of hers. The camera looks directly down on her and the eggs, so you can keep tabs on the birds each step of the way!

It's normal for a clutch to be anywhere between seven and 13 eggs, and incubation will then last two weeks. Now that our blue tit has nine eggs we reckon it won't be too long before we start seeing movement! So watch this space, and remember to check out the video feed if you're coming to visit.
