Glamping in Suffolk – Holidays for the whole family

Sweffling Glamping Site lies in a rural triangle between Framlingham to its inland west, coastal Southwold to the north east and seaside Aldeburgh to the south - Suffolk's own golden triangle of fun, adventure and charming discovery, ideal for glamping. From our Suffolk glamping site, you are in easy reach of the stunning Suffolk coast which is a protected area of outstanding natural beauty. From Lowestoft’s golden beach, down to Southwold and the colourful houses of Aldeburgh experience everything the unique coastline has to offer.

For small glampers

For the kids, Easton Farm Park is ideal, which varied activities and 'glam camping' or glamping fun for the whole family. Meet your first Suffolk Punch, enjoy pony rides, cart and train rides; feed the farm animals and hug a bunny (but you have to give it back). Firmer legs and inquisitive minds will enjoy the steam and engineering exhibits at Long Shop Museum, Leiston or the Cold War museum at RAF Bentwaters. With energy to spare - take the children to the parapets of Framlingham Castle to protect your lands from marauding little sisters, to be rewarded for your valour with the order of the ice cream.

Historic places of interest

Step back in time and immerse yourself in this land of castles, legend and hearsay, with Sutton Hoo in reach of Sweffling campsite. It is steeped in a history of coastal defence from the Anglo-Saxon burial site at Sutton Hoo to Henry II's 12th Century Orford Castle and the Dutch defences of 16th C. Landguard Fort.

Explore the Suffolk coastline

The Suffolk coastline offers a collection of uniquely beautiful places to see, delights to experience and things to do. It really is the ideal setting for luxury camping as a couple or with the whole family. The coastal estuaries alone offer much to make even the least interested of you ‘twitch' just a little. The Blyth estuary enters the sea at Southwold. As well as being home to Adnams ales, its marshland is home to a veritable A to W of wildfowl from Avocet to Wigeon via Dunlin and Knot. To the south, inland Woodbridge is a centre for sailing and other water borne excursions on the tidal River Deben, that spills gently into the sea above Felixstowe.

Between them, the Alde opens up at Snape, whose Maltings deserve a definite tick for visitors young and old. The estuary meanders through marshland and reed banks towards Aldeburgh, one of the most picturesque small fishing towns set between reed and wave. Enjoy the best fish 'n' chips ever, washed down with the finest of ales and discuss between you the poignancy of Maggi Hambling's 'Scallop', or perhaps just skim stones on the North Sea. All only a stone throw from our Sweffling glamping site.

Here the Alde turns right, creating a gentle seal-friendly sanctuary to the right of a southbound crunchy gravel spit, whose shingles are washed tirelessly by North Sea waves in a breeze tailor made for flying your kite.

Southwold glamping

30 minutes from Sweffling, the traditional seaside town of Southwold is just the place for a day on the beach. With its sandy beach and famous pier, we can think of no better spot for enjoying a portion of fish and chips or ice cream! You can also browse the many shops, tour the lighthouse and pop into the Adnams Brewery – don’t forget to pick up a bottle of something to enjoy round the firepit upon your return to your luxury safari tent.

Lowesoft glamping

Lowesoft is a little further from our Sweffling site, being 50 minutes away by car, but is certainly still worth a day trip during your Lantern & Larks holiday. It’s famous as being the first part of the UK to see the sunrise, but there’s lots to do at any time of day. Explore the beautiful sandy beach, complete with two piers and family attractions, see the animals at Africa Alive, or brave the rollercoasters at Pleasurewood Hills.

Visit Never Never Land

Give your glamping Suffolk experience a bit of something different, from Aldeburgh a visit to Thorpeness is a must. Take a boat out on the Meare, a gentle waterway created in 1910 by Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie and inspired by Peter Pan. Recount the story of Never Never Land as you cross the water. Look out for pirates and the iconic House in the Clouds - another of Ogilvie's J.M.Barrie-fuelled follies - once a water tower disguised as a house; now, a house converted from a water tower... it could only be so in Suffolk.

Dog friendly glamping in Suffolk

Our glamping site in Suffolk is dog friendly so bring along the whole family to enjoy a glamping break away in the countryside. They too can enjoy the clean air and wide open spaces that surround the site.

Group Bookings

Glamping near Southwold is the perfect break to share with friends and family. Gather together around a roaring firepit, share stories as you toast marshmallows and play and explore in the wide-open spaces. It’s a fantastic way to relax and enjoy the company of your nearest and dearest.

If you’d like to share a glamping campsite on the Suffolk coast with friends and family, why not book several tents across the site? We have six tents available, so groups of up to 36 can enjoy a break all together.
